  SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Ramtron International Corp. shares fell 15% to $2.93 in Wednesday morning trade after the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based semiconductor maker late Tuesday cut its fourth-quarter product revenue forecast to a range of $9.1 million to $9.2 million. The company had previously forecast product revenue of $10.2 million and $11.2 million. The company said the reduced forecast was largely due to an earthquake in Taiwan and severe weather in Colorado at the end of December, which impacted product shipments.

  NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Ramtron International Corp. Tuesday agreed to acquire Goal Semiconductor, a private Montreal-based fabless chip maker, for about $7.6 million in cash and stock. The company expects to pay $2 million in cash and issue 1.95 million common shares in the deal. Ramtron expects the acquisition to add to earnings in 2006. It expects the deal to increase operating expenses by about $1.2 million per year. Ramtron shares closed Monday at $2.83, up a nickel.
