Costco sees tough year-end. Costco (COST) warned its Q4 EPS will be well below current consensus of $1.00 (report date Oct. 8). "Factors negatively affecting our 4Q earnings outlook arise largely from inflation, particularly as to energy costs." The warning is surprising, because discounters have been gaining market share as consumers hoard their cash. COST also revealed a $0.16 quarterly dividend, and authorized an additional $1B share buyback.

Cisco
is eagerly waiting for the Japanese market to show signs of life.
Several of its suppliers, Israeli and American, will also be waiting in
the wings.
After the pleasant surprises in October in the form of the results from
tech giants such as Intel Corporation (INTC), Google Inc.
(GOOG), Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM), Apple Inc.
(AAPL), and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), investors will now
be hoping for a similarly strong showing from Cisco Systems Inc.
(CSCO), the first of the companies whose latest quarter ended
on October 30.
Keep in mind that when I learned to read in kindergarten I was taught with the method of word recognition. Which means that you look at some of the letters and basically guess as to what the word is. So when I saw Rad? I just assumed that Radware (RDWR) was the company that warned.
IsraelNewsletter?s Aaron Katsman had a great call last month on not throwing out Radware (RDWR) right before it made Morningstar?s 'Three Small-Cap Stocks for a Slugger?s Portfolio'. Since he?s held it, Radware has named a new executive Chairman, gone up almost 14%, and received a CIBC Oppenheimer upgrade.
Is this just good decision-making, or me giving our star portfolio manager some much-needed love?
I think it?s the former, and I?d like to posit that Aaron?s original thesis for owning it was correct ? that things may have started to really turn around at the consummate ?turn-around? story: Radware.
Aaron Katsman submits: On Friday afternoon I was about to pull the trigger and sell Radware (RDWR), figuring that I can at least use the loss to offset some capital gains that I have realized. Just as I was doing my final research, I got an alert from Morningstar that RDWR had been named in the Three Small-Cap Stocks for a Slugger's Portfolio. UUGH!!!

Shlomi Cohen submits: I have noticed a new practice in the current reporting season. Two companies, Ormat Technologies Inc. (ORA) and Radware Ltd. (RDWR), both of which happen to be Israeli, have published profit warnings after announcing a date for their financial report, which is an agreed signal between companies and investors that no warnings are in the offing, or at least no announcements with any connection to the results until these are published.
In Radware's case, the post-announcement warning is forgiveable, since it announced the date for the report...
Shlomi Cohen submits: Last week, Smith Barney published an interesting round-up of their recommendations for telecommunications equipment companies in the first half of 2006. Topping their list are F5 Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: FFIV), which competes with Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR) in the network data traffic sector; Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), which competes with AudioCodes (Nasdaq: AUDC) in the VoIP equipment sector, and lastly, leading optical components supplier JDS Uniphase CP (Nasdaq: JDSU), which will publish its second quarter report today.
Smith Barney says that as the second half of the year is...
Inventing Money submits: Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR) lowered guidance on Sunday (April 2) but the stock was already down almost 13% on Friday (March 31). Call me naive, but you think maybe someone knew?
The money call from one of Wall St. Finest -- Stanley Kovler -- was made on Friday; he published that he expects company to miss due to sales team transition in U.S -- exactly the same reason given by RDWR in its press release. TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) -- Israel stocks rose on Thursday, led by strength in Israel Chemicals and real-estate stocks and lacking any late-trading impetus from Wall Street, which is closed for Thanksgiving.
Israeli stocks decline as investors mulled the implications of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s announcement late Wednesday that he would resign when his Kadima Party selects a new leader in September.
Israeli stocks trade broadly higher, led by bank shares as well as Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, while a number of major names in technology rose sharply and real-estate companies leaped.
Israel stocks were down for a third day, reflecting weak performances on global markets and the Bank of Israel’s as-expected decision to keep interest rates unchanged at 3.25%.
Stocks expected to trade actively on Monday include B/E Aerospace, Continental Airlines, Cooper Tire, Ford, Maguire Properties, Radioshack, Sohu.com, UAL, and Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co.
Radware Ltd.'s first-quarter loss widened to $8.33 million, or 42 cents a share, from $3.57 million or 18 cents, a year earlier. Excluding items, the loss for the latest quarter was $6.3 million, or 32 cents a share, compared with $1.2 million, or 6 cents, in the year-earlier period. The Tel Aviv hardware maker said revenue for the period grew 12% to $22.2 million from $19.7 million. The company also said it expects to return to operating profitability by the fourth quarter.
