  • 5 Profitable Small Caps Priced at Significant Discounts to Tangible Book Value

    (Tue, 04 Nov 2008 03:33:33 -0500)

    Tom Shohfi submits:

In this kind of bear market, the phrase “throwing the baby out with the bath water” gets used quite frequently. However, there are some stocks that are truly worthy of this claim. Why consider buying opaque financial assets at pennies on the dollar when there are real companies, with little to no debt, that can be purchased at similar markdowns?

Our screens found five companies, in different industries, that are currently priced at significant...

  • Qiao Xing Universal Telephone: The Most Undervalued Chinese ADR

    (Tue, 20 Nov 2007 05:15:29 -0500)

    Scott Ferguson submits:

Finding strong companies to invest in during a down market is one of the best ways to reap financial windfalls when the market's eventual recovery happens. The market sometimes can act irrationally and punish stocks more than it should.

The Chinese ADR market has been red hot over the last 12 months with companies such as Baidu (BIDU) increasing in value by 400%. In fact, the average China ADR trades at a PE of close to 50.

  • Qiao Xing Communications: Time For Another Analyst Upgrade Already?

    (Sun, 18 Feb 2007 10:19:51 -0500)

Ant & Sons submits: In the now widely read January 16 upgrade of Qiao Xing Communications Inc. (XING) from Dutton Associates Stanley Ng, the analyst cited improving gross margins, along with the company's acquisition of the remaining 20% equity in Qiao Xing Mobile Communication, which raised its interest in CECT (its mobile handsets operation) from 74.7% to 93.4%, as reasons to boost earnings per share forecasts for 2007 by 16.1% from $2.18 to $2.53. As a result Ng pushed his 12-month price target for the company from $17.44 per share...

  • Issuer-Paid Dutton Analyst Stanley Ng Has Been Dead On With Qiao Xing

    (Wed, 17 Jan 2007 04:45:17 -0500)

Ant & Sons submits: Though Dutton Associates is one of the largest issuer-paid equity research firms in the United States, casting doubt on Stanley Ng's upgrade of Qiao Xing Universal Inc. (XING), investors cannot deny that the Dutton analyst has been on target. In a previous rating on shares of Qiao Xing on October 10, 2005, he issued a "strong buy" and gave a price target of $10.50 when the stock traded for just $5.30 per share. Today, the stock is trading at $14.11. How is that for a recommendation?!

  • Investors Feel Qiao Xing Analyst Coverage Not 'Objective'

    (Thu, 30 Nov 2006 09:00:04 -0500)

Ant & Sons submits: When Qiao Xing Universal Inc. (XING) released solid preliminary earnings numbers on Monday, investors sold on the news. Even after an analyst at JM Dutton reiterated his "buy" rating on Qiao Xing, shares refused to move to the upside. In a research note published yesterday, the analyst said that despite preliminary third quarter sales falling short of estimates, the company will post robust fourth quarter results. The analyst re-affirmed his "buy" rating while setting his price target to $17.44.

In the past, JM Dutton Associates analyst...
