  • Department Store Pre-Holiday Online Traffic Up

    (Tue, 02 Dec 2008 14:51:45 -0500)

    Compete submits:

I’m lucky. Or, at least I feel like I’m lucky. I don’t have to battle the lines, crowds, and traffic associated with holiday shopping. You see, I have several siblings that love to shop. So, with some careful planning I can deftly delegate all shopping off to each of them. I’m the idea guy. I come up with the gift – they get it.

As much as the holidays seem to put people in a good mood, they also seem to drive people crazy when making a trip to any retail store. It’s the yin and the yang...

We are entering the holiday season with the financial crisis still at large. With so much damage already done in the stock market, many stocks have become way undervalued. Value Investing is the best way to make money while hitting rock-bottom prices.

My mission was to find a few consumer-based stocks that are largely undervalued and will do well in the next 9-18 months. Although...

  • Highest Yielding Stocks Going Ex-Dividend in December

    (Mon, 01 Dec 2008 08:56:25 -0500)

    Stockerblog submits:

Investors occasionally use a stock trading technique called 'Buying Dividends,' which is the technique of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend. This technique generally works only in bull markets.

If you are interested in buying dividends, there are many stocks in many different industries to choose from. In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can't sell the stock until after...

  • Fast Money Recap - GM and Ford Go to Washington (11/28/08)

    (Sun, 30 Nov 2008 08:29:38 -0500)

Fast Money Recap, Friday November 28

    Is the Economy Shaping Up?

The last five days has seen the biggest gain in the Dow and the S&P 500 since 1933; the S&P 500 closed over 12% higher on the week, and the Dow climbed 10%. Joe Terranova and Dennis Gartman felt hopeful that things were looking up, but Jeff Macke chimed in sarcastically that being a Socialist is good for a trade. He might buy GM and Citi on the short-term news of a bailout, although he expects the companies to eventually go bankrupt. Terranova warned that the beginning of December tends to...

  • Black Friday Traffic Can Be Misleading

    (Sun, 30 Nov 2008 04:36:10 -0500)

mkaminisMarkos Kaminis (Wall St. Greek) submits:

We expect that when the final tally is taken this year measuring Black Friday business, it will present an illusion. We anticipate traffic measurements to be heavy, but for all the wrong reasons. So, be wary of the headlines that read, "Shopping Not So Dire. Stores Packed." Don't let such news lull you into thinking the retail share selloff or commercial real estate bearishness has been overdone. It has not.

Black Friday traffic can be misleading. Local news channels and newspapers will likely...

  • Black Friday: Will Americans Shop?

    (Fri, 28 Nov 2008 03:32:30 -0500)

    Bullish Bankers submits:

    By Nestor Solari

What does this Friday mean for the market? Since 1965, Black Friday has meant huge traffic jams and over-crowded stores and malls.
