LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Lamar Advertising Co. [S: lamr] said third-quarter net income fell to $3.75 million, or 4 cents a share, from $14.5 million, or 15 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had expected the company to make 5 cents a share, on average. Revenue fell to $312.5 million from $314.3 million. The advertising company cut its fourth-quarter revenue expectations 9% to $286 million because of the economic slowdown and said it's begun taking steps to curtail expenditures.
